On Sensitivity

“Experiment,” encourages me from a sticky note above my desk in addition to the words, “play over pressure, curiosity over fear.” These are the mantras I tell myself as I commit more fully to a creative life and manage the fears associated with it.  I’ve been philosophizing what that lifestyle means exactly- which qualities are needed and developed in abiding by these statements? Sensitivity is top of mind.  I believe creative powers are bestowed upon those who aspire to fluidity, tenderness and care. This is an ode to everything that isn't calloused, jaded, protective or firm. The opposite is required for the subtle transmutation between inspiration and its projected art form. In my experimentation with 16mm film, here are my ruminations on that transformative quality.
